What do you think of the cover for Resist? I'm really excited to share the final book in the Hunted Series with you. I don't have a release date set but I'm thinking it will likely be sometime in June. T and Lily are great characters and there story is really coming along. This excerpt is *unedited*.
T gritted his teeth as the dream ran rampant in his mind. Flames were everywhere. Smoke billowed around him filling his lungs and making him wheeze. The smell of charred apple trees infiltrated his nose. Screams pierced the air.
His body moved forward and his eyes were searching…for what he didn’t know. He was supposed to be looking for something—someone. For the life of him he didn’t know who.
It was a memory from his other life. He twisted and turned but all he saw were the all-consuming flames. A voice screamed in the distance but he couldn’t make it out.
Someone was shaking him and saying his name. “T? T? Hey, it’s just a dream. Wake up.”
T’s eyes flew open and locked onto Lily’s. Her mesmerizing blue orbs stared down at him and a small smile formed on her thin pink lips. She reached out and stroked his cheek with her hand. “Another nightmare?”
He swallowed and nodded as he shifted under the covers.
Lily stood up giving him room to get up. He tossed the covers back and stood, stretching.
“The same one?” she asked, running her fingers through her long sandy blonde hair.
This was the first one he’d ever had about a fire and apple trees. Maybe it was a new memory or… he sniffed. Was that apples? “Are you cooking?”
She pecked him on the lips. “I made apple pancakes with some of those apples we got from the market yesterday afternoon. You didn’t answer my question.”
“No. This one was different. There was a fire in an apple orchard,” he kissed her on the lips, lingering for a long moment before pulling back, “did you burn a few of them?”
She giggled and tapped him on the nose. “Nothing gets past your nose. I’m sorry my burnt pancakes gave you a nightmare.”
Had it been a nightmare? It’d felt so real…like it had actually happened. That was the problem with memory loss he could never tell what was real or what was just his overactive imagination running wild. It had been eighteen months since Lily had found and rescued him from a cliff in Canada—he had no recollection of how he even got there. He couldn’t even remember his own name other than he thought it started with a T.
